Reeve Reserve

39 acres protected in Waupaca County

Reeve Reserve is a protected area that covers 39 acres of land. Although it may seem like a simple woodland from the roadway, it has a lot to offer within its interior. Visitors can access the Little Wolf River by walking through the woods down a moderate incline on an overgrown path. Upon reaching the river, visitors can enjoy a peaceful environment with birds calling from the nearby oaks and pines.

The preserve is a delightful mix of Northeastern Wisconsin vegetational communities, with varying substrates of sand and boulder fields creating a habitat continuum that supports nine distinct plant communities including Riparian Wetland, Upland Meadow, Northern Lowland, Forest Floodplain, and Northern Mesic Forest.

The Reeve family protected the land through donation. Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust is grateful to them for their care and stewardship of the property and for making it possible for the public to enjoy it.

There are many reasons to visit this property. Hiking and bird watching are among the most popular, but visitors can also enjoy hunting and fishing opportunities in the preserve.

Additionally, the reserve can be viewed while paddling down the Little Wolf River, as the land lies along a well-traveled stretch of that river. Visitors are virtually guaranteed to have the preserve to themselves unless they are lucky enough to have a kayak or two meandering through.
